“NESN HD GameNight Red Sox Live” Returns for Third Season

In-Theatre Broadcasts of Red Sox Games Bring the Fenway Experience to Fans Across New England

Schedule to include six Red Sox-Yankee match-ups

Boston, MA – The Boston Red Sox, NESN and National Amusements, Inc., bring live, high-definition in-theatre broadcasts of Red Sox games back to New England fans for the 2006 season. The 14-game schedule includes six Red Sox-Yankee match-ups, and will be offered in four additional cities at Cinemagic theater locations.

On Monday, May 22nd, as the Red Sox take on the New York Yankees, Red Sox fans in 10 cities across New England will be able to enjoy the live game, in digitally projected widescreen high-definition, with digital stereo sound and comfortable theatre seating. Fans can purchase food and beverage “ballpark style” from vendors walking the aisles offering traditional ballpark fare such as hot dogs, pizza, popcorn and nachos. In addition, a selection of beer and wine service will be available at select theatres.

“These broadcasts have become a fixture in New England,” said Larry Lucchino, Red Sox president and CEO. “National Amusements has been a great partner throughout the three years, and we are pleased to make the expansion into the Northern New England area with the addition of Merrimack, NH; Saco, ME; and Salisbury, MA. We know how difficult it is to get Red Sox tickets and this gives Red Sox fans an opportunity to enjoy the Fenway experience in their hometowns.”

National Amusements has worked with the Red Sox and NESN to create the best alternative to attending the game in person. Fans can enjoy the ballpark experience and camaraderie in a family-friendly environment and cheer for the home team with other fans, neighbors and friends.

“This is a great partnership and response from the fans has been incredible,” said Shari Redstone, president, National Amusements, Inc. “We expect this year to be the best yet, with lots of new surprises and additional items on the menu.”

The concept of broadcasting live Major League Baseball originally debuted in 2003 at Showcase Cinemas in Randolph. Now the games are shown at Showcase Cinemas in Woburn, Randolph, Revere, W. Springfield, and Worcester, Massachusetts; Providence, Rhode Island and Southington, Connecticut; as well as at Cinemagic theatres in Salisbury, Massachusetts; Merrimack, New Hampshire* and Saco, Maine. The final theater, Cinemagic 16 in Westbrook, Maine, holds its grand opening on June 23 and will begin showing Red Sox games on June 27th.

Advance tickets for HD GameNight are available at redsox.com, by phone and in person at participating Showcase Cinemas’ and Cinemagic’s box offices.

“We are proud to support the family-friendly experience begun four years ago by the Red Sox, NESN and Showcase Cinemas,” said NESN President Sean McGrail. “This year’s format has been improved further by giving viewers the opportunity to watch the NESN Pre-Game and Post-Game show before and after all games in HD.”
