[DEDHAM, MA]—August 17, 2006 – National Amusements announced today that their annual summer reading program, “Bookworm Wednesdays”, has had another record breaking year. The program broke record circuit-wide attendance numbers during its eight week run. The program, which just completed its eighth year, saw attendance increase from approximately 84,000 patrons in 2005 to over 102,000 in 2006.

“Bookworm Wednesdays” is an eight-week program, which entitles kids to free admission to a select children’s film every Wednesday at 10 a.m. when they present a book report at a participating Showcase and Multiplex Cinemas or Cinema de Lux box office. Accompanying parents or guardians and children under six receive free admission and do not need to submit a book report.

The program has consistently grown each year since its inception. The program originally began with 4 weeks of free films. After a strong start, attendance increased so much the second year, that the program was extended to 6 weeks with additional markets added. With a continued increase in attendance, National Amusements expanded the program to 8 weeks.

The program ran every Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. from June 28 through August 16, 2006 at select National Amusements theatres in the following states: California, Connecticut, Iowa, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Virginia.
