NATIONAL AMUSEMENTS DEBUTS LIVE ENTERTAINMENT PROGRAM IN CONNECTICUT THEATRE
Unique entertainment concept to feature cabaret style performances at Chatters, National Amusements’ theatre based signature bar & grill
Dedham, MA---March 28, 2007---National Amusements, Inc., a world leader in the motion picture exhibition industry operating approximately 1,500 screens in the U.S., U.K., Latin America and Russia, announced today the debut of Chatters Presents…, a unique entertainment concept featuring live performances at a movie theatre. The cabaret style show entitled On the Edge with Carol O!, stars the critically acclaimed Ms. Carol O’Shaughnessy, under the musical direction of Tom LaMark, who delights audiences world-wide with her vocal diversity and side-splitting humor. During the inaugural four week run, O’Shaughnessy will feature at least one special guest artist each week that will perform during a fast-paced, fun-filled 90 minute variety show. Then, ticket holders are invited to take to the stage and showcase their own musical skills accompanied by a live pianist until closing.
The first public performance takes place on Thursday, April 19, 2007, at 7:00 p.m. inside the new Chatters Bar & Grill at Showcase Cinemas Buckland Hills, 99 Redstone Road in Manchester, Connecticut. Tickets are $12.00 and can be purchased in advance online at nationalamusements.com or by calling the theatre at 860-646-9800 or at the theatre box office, beginning March 30, 2007.
Chatters Bar & Grill is a signature feature of National Amusements Cinema de Lux concept which was recently added to Showcase Cinemas Buckland Hills. Chatters is a full-service restaurant featuring a diverse range of food selections from appetizers, to sandwiches/panini, and sophisticated entrees and desserts, in a relaxed, sophisticated setting. Chatters also features a full service bar with beer, wine and our innovative specialty drinks and elegant martini creations.
Patrons can enjoy dinner and/or drinks anytime, before or after the movie, or during lunch/dinner or an afternoon snack. Now patrons can also enjoy live performances on Thursday evenings.
The addition of Chatters and the new entertainment concept, Chatters Presents…, is another step in the transformation of the Buckland Hills theatre to a Cinema de Lux, National Amusements signature high-end entertainment concept that is currently being rolled out in the United States. National Amusements is transforming the movie-going experience by developing and introducing exciting alternative entertainment, like Chatters Presents…, turning their theatres into community entertainment destinations.

VIP/Media Preview (Invitation Only) – Thursday, April 12, 2007: Carol’s special guests are international jazz recording artist Rebecca Parris and the Waterbury, Connecticut-based comedy troupe Shakesperi ence. Rebecca Parris has sung all over the world with some of jazz’s greatest legends like Dizzie Gillespie, Buddy Rich and Woody Herman. Shakesperience will provide excerpts from their irreverent, fast-paced romp through American History, The Complete History of America (Abridged).

Thursday, April 26, 2007: Carol’s special guest will be Mary Callanan. A graduate of Hart College in CT, Mary has appeared in a numerous roles on and off Broadway. Her stage credits include leads in Nunsense, Menopause and One Night Catechism. She is currently the lead in RESPECT now playing at the Stuart Street Theatre in Boston.
Thursday, May 3, 2007: Carol’s special guest is Award-winning cabaret artist Jan Peters. Winner of the Improper Bostonian Best Cabaret Act 2005, Independent Reviewers of New England Best Female Cabaret Artist 2002, Bay Windows Best Cabaret Performer 2002, this 1999 Eugene O’Neill Cabaret Symposium Fellow draws from an extensive repertoire of popular Broadway and standard songs as well as material from promising new songwriters.
Thursday, May 10, 2007: Carol’s special guest is Semina DeLaurentis. This Broadway actor was the original prototype for the part of Sr. Mary Amnesia in Nunsense. She runs the Seven Angels Theatre in Waterbury, CT.
