Dedham, MA –May 16, 2007–National Amusements, Inc., a world leader in the motion picture exhibition industry operating more than 1,500 screens in the U.S., U.K., Latin America and Russia, announced today plans to build a new prototype Cinema de Lux theatre on the site of the Commack Multiplex Cinema. The theatre will feature a unique new design for National Amusements Cinema de Lux brand, bringing it to a whole new level of luxury. A key feature of the new design will be a special VIP seating area in several of the auditoria that will allow guests to enjoy in-seat dining before and during the featured film. The new theatre will replace the current theatre building, which opened in 1983. The entire project is expected to be completed by Fall of 2008.
Movie-goers will be able to indulge themselves with the luxury of the new Cinema de Lux premium reserved seating concept. This special VIP experience will feature in-seat dining offering wait service and a selection of upscale foods to enjoy during the feature film. Located in the upper rear section of the theater, patrons will be able to relax in soft-cushioned swivel rockers with console tables providing a convenient dining surface. The VIP concept offers wider row spacing to provide spacious seating for guests with exclusive rear access for easy entrance to the private area. Guests will enter the theatre VIP area via a dedicated open staircase and elevator. Food service will come from a full-service kitchen dedicated exclusively for the VIP seating. The waiting area on the VIP level will have relaxing living room style chairs and tables, with wait service for the VIP customers to enjoy prior to or after the movie.
The theater will also include the many luxurious amenities for which the Cinema de Lux is recognized. Features will include the elegant Cinema de Lux décor which includes a grand piano. Guests will be able to relax in a lounge area outfitted with comfortable, home-style furniture with the latest issues of newspapers and magazines. Or they may take advantage of free WiFi access in public areas of the theater. The lobby will also feature Guest Services, a concierge style service desk assisting patrons with needs such as calling a taxi or purchasing tickets to the VIP seating area.
A Chatters Bar & Grill, a full-service restaurant featuring American fare in a relaxed, sophisticated setting will also be a key feature of the theatre. Menu items at Chatters include a diverse range of food selections from appetizers, to sandwiches/paninis, and sophisticated entrees and desserts, as well as a full bar featuring innovative specialty drinks and elegant martini creations.
Patrons will be able to enjoy dinner and/or drinks before or after the movie, or just stop by to meet friends for lunch/dinner or an afternoon snack.
Patrons will also be able to enjoy a wide variety of concessions from classic movie fare such as popcorn and soft drinks to well-known brands such as NATHAN’s Famous® and Pretzel Depot. The theatre will also offer Ben & Jerry’s ice cream and a coffee bar service area featuring Starbucks coffee and other specialty coffee beverages.
