Russia’s leading Western style theatrical exhibitor is redefining the industry with state-of-the-art theater concepts in Russia
DEDHAM, Mass., --March 10, 2008-- Rising Star Media, the leading developer and operator of full service, western-style world-class cinemas, today announced the launch of two more KinoStar multiplexes, Mega Belaya Dacha in Moscow and Mega Dybenko in St. Petersburg. The company is recognized by the industry for its state-of-the-art theater concepts that are redefining the exhibition business in Russia. Both locations are slated to open March 17, 2008.
KinoStar City at Mega Belaya Dacha features a New York City themed design, with 15 screens, a Coca Cola Red Lounge, 3400 seats, and two De Lux auditoriums. The cinema is branded with a New York City theme to include a Times Square motif for the lobby. The theater will be Russia’s largest cinema complex covering nearly 10,000 m2 of space and is located at Russia’s first super mall. The mall covers 270,000 m2, with 9500 parking slots and anticipates approximately 61.5 million visitors a year.
KinoStar at Mega Dybenko will offer guests 10 screens, a Coca Cola Red Lounge and 2400 seats with a footprint of 6000 m2. The theater is located at St. Petersburg’s largest mall covering 270,000 m2 with 9500 parking slots and anticipates approximately 41 million visitors per year.
“Rising Star Media is focused on providing our patrons with a world-class movie-going and entertainment experience,” said Shari Redstone, who leads Rising Star Media and is president of National Amusements. “Our goal is to continually offer exciting concepts for our patrons such as the New York City theme at Mega Belaya Dacha, along with state-of-the-art technology, design, and comfort, and the best in film product from around the world.”
The new theatres will show international first run and Russian films as well as select high profile independents. The theatres will offer stadium style seating, wall to wall screens, Game Zone arcades, state-of-the-art food and beverage operations, and high-end digital sound in all of the auditoriums.
“This is the next phase of the “measured expansion” strategy that Ms. Redstone and I put in place when we formed Rising Star Media,” noted Paul Heth, who directs Rising Star Media. “We continue to focus on developing and operating cinema and entertainment venues that are “category defining” not just for the Russian market but for the overall cinema industry.”
The new KinoStar locations bring to five the number of multiplexes owned and operated by Rising Star which include: KinoStar de Lux at Mega Teply Stan in Moscow, KinoStar de Lux at Mega Khimki in Moscow, and KinoStar City Cinema and Entertainment Center in St. Petersburg. These theaters are among the top box office grossing multiplexes in Russia. Rising Star Media continues expansion plans with their next project with KinoStar City at Metropolis in Moscow.
Rising Star Media, led by Shari Redstone, is a joint venture between National Amusements, Inc. and Moscow based media executive Paul B. Heth. Ms. Redstone and Mr. Heth have successfully collaborated on other cinema projects in the United States and Russia. National Amusements and Mr. Heth are also partners in Monumental Pictures with US film Studio Sony Pictures Entertainment. Monumental was formed to produce and distribute Russian language motion pictures for the Russian market.
